Using HTML, Formatting and Spellcheck in Emails & Item Details

Planning Center emails (and item details) can contain formatting and even HTML code, but in order to write or paste in HTML you need to be in HTML view. In addition, if your browser or computer offers spellchecking, it won't work in formatting view, but you can switch to HTML view to check spelling.

When you compose an email (or edit item details for an item in your plan) a special formatting toolbar allows you to change the formatting of your text. You can bold, italicize, underline, change font sizes, colors and more by highlighting your text and choosing a button from the toolbar.

You can NOT type in HTML in this mode. If you type HTML in this mode, the output will just show the HTML code.

If you would like to type, pase, or just view raw HTML, you can do so by clicking the HTML button at the far right of the toolbar to switch to HTML view. If you want to paste HTML code into your email, you must be in HTML view. Once you are satisfied with your HTML, you can click the button to switch back to preview mode to see how your content will actually appear.

Most HTML is available, though some more advanced HTML might not work due to the contraints of the email box and email in general.

Spellchecking

When you are in HTML Source view as described above, and your browser offers built-in spell checking, anything you type in this mode will be checked for spelling. If you type it in formatting view and then switch to HTML Source view, it usually doesn't check the spelling, so you'll want to make sure you switch to HTML Source view first, type your text, then switch back to formatting view to make sure everything looks okay.
